FAQs
What is Support Coordination?
Support coordination is all about helping you get the most out of your NDIS plan. Think of it as a helping hand that makes things easier for you. Here’s how it works:
Understand and Use Your NDIS Plan: We help you make sense of your plan and use it effectively to reach your goals.
Connect You with Services: We link you up with NDIS providers, community resources, mainstream services, and other government support.
Build Your Confidence and Skills: We work with you to build your confidence and skills, so you feel capable and comfortable managing your supports.
Our goal is to make sure you feel supported and empowered every step of the way!
What is Recovery Coaching?
A recovery coach is a special kind of support funded by the NDIS with expertise in mental health. Here’s what a recovery coach does:
Get to Know You: They spend time with you and the people who matter most to understand your needs, explore your values, and discover what’s most important to you.
Explore Services and Supports: They help you discover different services and supports, explaining how they can benefit you.
Develop Wellness and Safety Plans: They work with you to create personalized wellness and safety plans, ensuring you feel supported and secure on your journey.
Targeted Conversations and Tools: They engage in focused conversations and use various tools to explore areas of change you want to work on in your life.
Support with Change: The recovery coach checks in regularly to provide ongoing support as you make progress on the goals and changes you've set for yourself.
Connect You with Mental Health Services: They assist in accessing the right mental health support to suit your needs.
Guide You with the NDIS: They help you better understand the NDIS and provide guidance to make the most of your plan.
Think of a recovery coach as your guide and ally, helping you navigate your journey with care and expertise.
How do I know if I have support coordination or recovery coaching funding in my plan?
To check if your NDIS plan includes support coordination or recovery coaching, look at the "Capacity Building" section of your plan. Support coordination is usually listed as "Support Coordination" or "Coordination of Supports," and it helps you connect with services and manage your plan. Recovery coaching is often under "Capacity Building for Daily Activities" or "Improved Daily Living," and it focuses on helping people with mental health challenges work on their recovery goals. If you're unsure, you can ask your Local Area Coordinator (LAC) for help.
